******************************************************************* Signal Processing Workshops Volume 1 contains: 1997 IEEE Workshop on Nonlinear Signal and Image Processing 1997 International Workshop on Acoustic Echo and Noise Control CDROM Published by Causal Productions Pty Ltd. ******************************************************************* For last minute changes, read \causal\readme.txt ******************************************************************* This CDROM contains information in several formats. 1) Adobe Acrobat PDF format All indexing information and the technical papers themselves are available as Acrobat (PDF) documents. You should install an Acrobat reader from one of the directories: **** Acrobat Reader 3.01 with Search Plug-in **** \ACROREAD\WIN Windows 3.1 and Windows 95/NT \ACROREAD\MAC Macintosh \ACROREAD\UNIX Various unix workstations Note: Acrobat Reader software is regularly updated by Adobe, and support for new platforms is added. Updates can be freely downloaded from www.adobe.com and ftp.adobe.com. Note: the Macintosh reader is in BINHEX format. You will need the freeware Stuffit Expander (TM) program to unpack it. After you have installed a reader, open the file \WELCOME.PDF in the root directory of this CDROM to access all available information. 2) HTML (HyperText Markup Language), for use with internet WWW browsers such as Netscape, Mosaic, etc. You will need to install your own WWW browser, then open the file \WELCOME.HTM in the root directory of this CDROM. Using a HTML browser you can navigate the table of contents and the author index. To read the manuscripts, you must install an Acrobat reader. 3) ASCII text files Look in the \NSIP97\ASCII and \IWAENC97\ASCII directory to see plain ASCII files of table-of-contents information, and an index to authors. ********************************************************************** \IWAENC97\PDF \NSIP97\PDF contains .PDF files which can be viewed using Adobe Acrobat readers. If using an Acrobat reader, load either of the files: \WELCOME.PDF \IWAENC97\PDF\INDEXSCR.PDF \NSIP97\PDF\INDEXSCR.PDF \IWAENC97\PDF\SCAN \NSIP97\PDF\SCAN contain scanned version of all manuscripts. The content of these manuscripts has been processed using OCR so that you can search for keywords inside papers. The prebuilt index which is loaded automatically when you open WELCOME.PDF allows searching through all of the contents of the CDROM. \IWAENC97\PDF\SCAN \NSIP97\PDF\SCAN contain acrobat documents converted from postscript supplied by authors. In most cases, these documents are superior to the scanned versions. \IWAENC97\HTML \NSIP97\HTML contain files which can be viewed using a WWW browser such as Mosaic or Netscape. Use the "Load Local File" facility in your browser to access either of the following files: \WELCOME.HTM \IWAENC97\HTML\AE97_TOC.HTM \NSIP97\HTML\AE97_TOC.HTM \IWAENC97\ASCII \NSIP97\ASCII contain files which may be viewed with any ASCII viewer, text editor or word processor. PAPERS.TXT contains titles, authors, page numbers, and abstracts in the order in which they appear in the paper proceedings. AUTHORS.TXT contains an index linking authors (sorted by surname) to the page numbers of the papers on which they are listed as authors. \CAUSAL\README.TXT last-minute information about this CDROM, including known faults at the time of publication. ************************************************************************** HINTS FOR UNIX USERS Problems with the case of file names on the CDROM The hypertext links in the HTML documents on this CDROM require that the filenames of the destination documents appear as lower case. Some systems, such as Macintosh and MS-Windows, are case insensitive and no problems occur. However, various unix systems have different ways of handling the case of filenames on ISO9660 CDROMs. In order to make the hyperlinks function correctly, the filenames on the CDROM should appear as lower case. If you have problems with HTML files not being found when you click a hyperlink, you may need to try the following commands when mounting the CD (thanks to T.Rohtla.) If you continue to have problems then contact your system administrator or equipment vendor. Under OSF: mount -t cdfs -r -o noversion /dev/ /cdrom Under Ultrix: mount -t cdfs -r -o noversion /dev/ /cdrom Under SunOS: mount -t hsfs -r /dev/ /cdrom Under Solaris: mount -F hsfs -o ro /dev/ /cdrom ************************************************************************** FILE NAMING CONVENTION Each manuscript is stored in a file whose name begins with 4 characters which identify the conference: \PDF\AE97xxxx.PDF IWAENC97 manuscripts \PDF\NS97xxxx.PDF NSIP97 manuscripts The characters xxxx are replaced by the paper number of the manuscript left filled with zeros. For example, the paper: "Adaptive Multichannel L-filters with Structural Constraints" is NSIP97 paper number 333, and is found in the Acrobat file called: \NSIP97\PDF\NS970333.PDF ************************************************************************** HINTS FOR USERS OF ACROBAT EXCHANGE Users of Acrobat Exchange or Acrobat Search for CDROM may use the advanced search facilities of these packages by loading the index for the conference. The index file to be loaded is: \INDEX.PDX The index file is loaded automatically when the WELCOME.PDF documents are opened. ************************************************************************** 5) PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS As they are found, problems and solutions will be made available via Causal's WWW site at: http://www.causal.on.net ************************************************************************** CAUSAL PRODUCTIONS PTY LTD PO BOX 100 RUNDLE MALL, 5000 AUSTRALIA PHONE: 61-8-8295-8200, FAX 61-8-8295-8299 EMAIL: info@causal.on.net http://www.causal.on.net
