Cognitive Machines for Audition
The cocktail party problem and how we are solving it
Abstract:

The intention of this presentation is to demonstrate a new algorithm on two commercially available chips.
At the lecture recent work on the following topics will be highlighted:
* The cocktail party problem, and how the human auditory system may be solving it using a neurobiologically plausible single-source extraction procedure. Some very interesting experiments demonstrate the validity of this procedure whereby the algorithm extracts a sound signal of interest in the presence of a large number of competing sounds (over ten) with only a pair of sensors.
* Speech enhancement using a mixture of acoustic cues.
* Neurocompensation.
